Be prepared: 4 skills you MUST acquire before getting married

Every time you share a smile, laugh at your partner’s jokes, agree with a comment your partner said, express appreciation, thank your partner for something, or express affection, you are offering “dollops” of positivity. The more dollops you give, the happier you both will be.

Before you got a driver’s license, you learned to drive. Before marriage, learn these 4 skills.

Before someone gets a driver’s license, they take a drivers ed course, practice with the help of an experienced driver, and closely study the rulebook. These are all valuable things to do, because driving without the necessary skills would make someone a menace on the roads, and a danger to themself and others.

The same thought process applies to marriage, as well. Before getting a marriage license, people must learn how to do the high-skills activity that partnership requires. Otherwise, couples are at risk for intense fighting, and launching a marriage that’s at risk from the outset.

Multiple research projects have clearly established that couples who learn marriage skills have the highest odds of enjoying a long-lasting and gratifying partnership. If you are spending time and energy on a wedding, it makes sense to ensure that the marriage that follows will be a successful one.

What are the main skill areas you need? In PowerOf we teach these four skill areas:

1. Emotional self-regulation. Young children often get mad, cry, or even hit their siblings. Adults, on the other hand, mostly live their lives in the calm zone. The good news is that adults who get overly emotional, (especially with anger), can learn how to overcome their anger tendencies. If you find that you raise your voice and get mad more than once every several months, or get so mad that you say and do hurtful things, you’ve got some important learning to do.

2. Communication. Talking tactfully, especially when the issue is something that distresses you, and listening in a way that sustains cooperation, are essential to any marriage. Talking in a way that’s complaining, critical, or otherwise hurtful will get you in serious marriage trouble. Dismissing what your partner says, negating what you hear with “but”, or ignoring instead of digesting what you hear, is sure to cause extreme marital woes.

3. Conflict resolution. All couples have differences.Successful couples know how to start with a “his-way” and a “her-way” and end up with an “our-way” that they both feel good about. That’s true whether the issue is a simple one, like what movie to to see on Saturday night, or big issues like where to live, how to handle money, and how to keep your sex life passionate.

4. Positivity. Every time you share a smile, laugh at your partner’s jokes, agree with a comment your partner said, express appreciation, thank your partner for something, or express affection, you are offering “dollops” of positivity. The more dollops you give, the happier you both will be.

The moral of the story? Be prepared. Remember that a wedding is for one day. Marriage, hopefully, is forever. So, take advantage of the secret to living ‘happily ever after.’ Whether it’s before you’ve exchanged rings, or even many years after, ensure your success as a couple. Put at least as much skill-learning time into your marriage as you put into the wedding planning!

Dagrin remembered 3 years after…

By Charles Mgbolu

On April 14, 2010, at about 3 am, a Nissan Maxima 2008 model ran into a parked lorry in front of Alakara Police station, Mushin, Lagos. It’s lone male occupant survived but sustained very serious head injuries and was rushed to the Tai Solarin Hospital, Mushin, soon he was moved to the intensive care unit of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH Idi Araba but eight days later, April 22 at 6pm, this young man passed on; a man everyone knew as Dagrin.

Today, three years later, fans remember this young dynamic artist who took yoruba rap to the next level. A whole crop of young upcoming and established artistes have toed his line yet, Dagrin’s sensational single Pon Pon Pon continues to remain ever green.

Reigning sensational yoruba rap artist Olamide Adedeji however is at the peak of his career with blazing hot singles sinking him deep as the Lord of Yoruba rap lyricists but has he successfully grown to be a big phenomenon Dagrin was? Can Olamide be the artist who now wears Dagrin’s shoes? You can share your opinions.

RIP Dagrin.

Give yourself two years in between pregnancies, gynaecologist advises women

The gynaecologist said women need at least two years after child birth to build their blood level.
A gynaecologist Fred Achem, on Wednesday advised women in their child- bearing age to give themselves two years in between pregnancies before having another child.
Mr. Achem gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja.
He said that it was important that women recovered their blood level after childbirth which usually required a minimum of two years.
The gynaecologist said that a pregnant woman required a minimum blood volume so as to prevent anaemia in pregnancy.
“Our women must not continue to get pregnant every year. They have to recover from one pregnancy, rebuild their blood system up and that takes a minimum of two years.
“Once the blood level starts coming down, it manifests in her strength to carry the baby, it manifests in the size of the baby.
“And if the anaemia is very deficient, the baby may even succumb in her womb as a result of anaemia,” he said.
Mr. Achem said that anaemia in pregnancy had symptoms like heart failure, fatigue and swelling of the legs, among others.
He said that it was important for all women of child-bearing age to take iron and folic acid tablets to build their blood system.
Speaking on nutrition in pregnancy, Mr. Achem said that women should stay on top of good nutrition by eating healthy meals.
“It is very important that women consider their own nutrition and stay on top of good nutrition all through pregnancies, moderate weight gain is very important.
“It is not so much of what they eat but the quality of what they eat, and to address such things, it is better to avoid all those fried fruits which bring more calories to the system.
“Good protein and good vegetables keep the bowels soft and moving,” he added.

Couple Arrested For Suffocating Crying Baby So They Could Have Sex

A Chicago couple smothered their crying daughter unconscious before dumping her limp body back into her playpen so they could have sex, police claim.
Rodrigo Rodriguez, 29, is accused of covering 5-month-old Angelina’s mouth with his hand three times on Thursday night as her mom, 21-year-old Angela Petrov, looked on.
The pair, who were reportedly drinking Hennessy, then allegedly went to the bedroom of their West Rogers Park apartment and had sex before falling asleep.
Cops claim Petrov woke up at 7 a.m. on Friday to prepare and older child for school — but went back to bed without checking on the younger infant.
She finally got up, with Rodriguez, at 11 a.m. — when she noticed the girl was “stiff and unresponsive.”
They performed CPR and threw water on her face to try and wake her. But nothing worked, so Petrov dialed 911.
The baby was initially taken to Saint Francis Hospital, before being transferred to Lurie Children’s Hospital, where she later died.
Medics said a lack of oxygen had seen her brain swell. She also had a “blown pupil” and a skull fracture from a previous incident.
Her parents were arrested late on Friday and have each been charged with aggravated battery to a child, reports the Chicago Sun-Times.
The couple’s other children are now being looked after by family members, said Illinois Department of Children and Family Services spokesman Dave Clarkin.
Clarkin also revealed that the couple were already under investigation for other abuse allegations involving another child.
Cook County Judge James Brown ordered both parents to be held in lieu of $5 million bail on Sunday.

Baroness Thatcher’s Funeral At St Paul’s

t Paul’s Cathedral is packed for the funeral of Baroness Thatcher, whose coffin is due to arrive shortly for the hour-long ceremony.

The cordage left the Chapel of St Mary Under croft in Westminster, where the coffin rested overnight, at 10am.

Crowds lining the streets applauded as it moved slowly past on its way to another church on The Strand.

A card placed in a single large white flower arrangement resting on the coffin read: “Beloved mother, always in our hearts”.

It has now been placed onto a gun carriage outside St Clement Danes church, and is making its journey to St Paul’s for the service.

Lady Thatcher’s coffin leaving Westminster
As it moved along surrounded by troops closely linked to the Falklands conflict, some boos could be heard from the crowds.

Security throughout central London is tight, with four thousand police officers along the route.

But there appear to be far smaller crowds than expected, with some areas where barriers were erected almost empty.

Most people gathered outside St Paul’s also appear to be Thatcher supporters, although a handful of critics were also there.

The hearse passing Downing Street
Guests at the church include Sir Terry Wogan and Shirley Bassey as well as the ex-Tory leader’s political friends and foes.

Lady Thatcher, who died on April 8 after suffering a stroke, is having a ceremonial funeral – but the Queen’s presence effectively raises it to a state event.

The former politician’s family, friends, one-time colleagues and Cabinet foes, as well as dignitaries and figures from around the world are also there.

Ahead of the service and amid anger at taxpayers picking up most of the funeral bill, David Cameron insisted it would be a “fitting tribute”.

The Prime Minister said that by winning the big arguments, his predecessor had actually settled divisions and declared: “In a way, we are all Thatcherites now.”

Inside St Paul’s as guests arrived
He added: “She was the first woman prime minister, she served for longer in the job that anyone for 150 years, she achieved some extraordinary things in her life.”

Supporter John Loughrey, from Wandsworth, said: “She saved Britain. She gave my father the opportunity to buy his council house.

“We had all sorts of problems and Mrs Thatcher put it all back together again. We needed the Iron Lady.”

Margaret Kittle, 79, had travelled all the way from Canada to pay her respects.

She said: “My family came to Churchill’s and I wanted to come to Maggie’s because they are the two greats of history. We will never see the likes of Mrs Thatcher again.”

But student David Winslow, 22, was among the protesters planning to turn their backs as the coffin past.

Crowds gathered along the route through London
“The message is that spending £10m on such a divisive figure in times of austerity, especially when austerity is being imposed on the poor, is wrong, especially when harm is being caused to the disabled and the NHS,” he said.

Two arrested inside Lagos-Abuja aircraft for stealing N1.5mn

The airport security conducted a body search on all the passengers.
Two passengers on an Abuja-bound Med-View Airline flight were arrested on Wednesday by security personnel attached to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) in Lagos.
They were alleged to have attempted to steal N1.5 million from the hand-luggage of another passenger in the luggage- compartment of the aircraft at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja.
Yakubu Dati, the General Manager, Corporate Communications of FAAN, confirmed this in a statement in Ikeja, Lagos.
He said that following an alarm raised by a passenger on board over pilfering his luggage in the compartment, the flight, which was
scheduled to depart Lagos for Abuja at 9.00 a.m., was delayed.
“The attention of FAAN’s security personnel was called to the aircraft by the cabin crew of the airline following an argument that ensued between two passengers over missing money.
`The passengers on board were later subjected to body search and substantial amounts of money were found on two of them,” it said.
The statement also said that the suspects were later taken away by FAAN security personnel, adding “the suspects are undergoing
preliminary interrogation at FAAN’s Crime Investigation Bureau”.
The statement said the suspects would be handed over to the police for further investigations.
It assured the public, especially passengers, that people engaged in nefarious activities at the nation’s airports would no longer find
life comfortable.
“FAAN has put in place adequate security measures at the nation’s airports to ensure that they are safe and more secure,” it said.
It congratulated the Lagos Police Command for arresting a gang of
armed robbers who raided the airport’s international wing car park on
March 13.
The statement said that FAAN, in collaboration with other security agencies at airports, had put measures in place to make the nation’s
airports secured.
It recalled that after the March 13 robbery, FAAN beefed up security around the airport.
The agency also banned illegal bureau de change operation at the airport and other airports in Nigeria.

Chilee Agunanna: Tonto Dikeh’s music: A disaster caused by social media

Chilee Agunanna: Tonto Dikeh’s music: A disaster caused by social media

By Chilee Agunanna on April 2, 2013

When I read Charles Novia’s critique of the “music” and movie careers of Tonto Dikeh, I actually felt some parts were a bit over the top. But watching her perform at AY LIVE last Sunday really made me reconsider my judgment of that piece.

Clad in white panties/bum shorts, a white shirt, a black bowtie and sneakers, she ascended the stage with a retinue of dancers. There was no real attempt at singing as she was busy trying to pull down the shorts which kept riding up her ass and smiling sheepishly at nothing in particular while the disasters of her songs, It’s Ova, Hi and Crazically Fit, belched from the speakers.

It was a really cringe-worthy affair and there was that embarrassing shamelessness of someone who doesn’t care about the public’s perception of her actions yet wants them to care about her and revere her.

While not the best actress in Nigeria, Tonto is not the worst. No, not by any means. She has also exhibited genuine strains of social responsibility and human empathy as she has donated towards a number of charitable causes in recent times. But why she has chosen to embarrass herself and her fans with a spurious music career is a continuum that has baffled sane people ever since it began.

It is not a case of ‘She who the gods want to kill, they first of all make mad.’ No god is involved in this embarrassing sequence. The almighty and benevolent God has already given her a talent which has made her a star in the movies and given her a beautiful space in the Nigerian star-sphere.

The problem seems to lie in the proliferation and liberalisation of file sharing, good speech as well as nonsense through the Social Media. Anyone with an internet connection on any device can download music and the number counted including the failed downloads. Then they can proceed to Twitter and with a simple mention reach their subject and massage their ego through base sycophancy.

One of such Twitter sycophants woke up one morning and declared that@TONTOLET would win a Grammy soon which she gladly retweeted knowing fully well that she can only win a Grammy awarded by her granny.

Then there are Social Media mercenaries who for a fee would keep mentioning a handle or hashtagging anything until it trends. They, like local marabouts, fete whatever is their object until it is lulled into a false sense of fame and acceptability.

One of such mercenaries who is on Tonto’s payroll is the persona of@TWEETORACLE – a Twitter character ready to fight into the gutters with some of the most rotten utterances you can encounter in a public place at the slightest provocation yet praise a paid product to the high heavens without either having experienced it – simply advertently misleading the public.

Massive download numbers are misleading as they did not tell Tonto the simple truth: ‘People are downloading your song because they want to laugh at you and many will be happy to watch you make a fool of yourself on a stage!’

Thus it happened that she was absent at what would have been her first performance at the Best of Nollywood Awards last year which didn’t bother people because a performance such as hers can only be appreciated in a show like AY LIVE where the excellent comedy situation has already aroused the ironic tendencies of the audience and they would gracefully accept it as the worst joke of the night.

Living in a world solely driven by sycophant social-media personas and commentators is the height of a celebrity’s irresponsibility.

Some even pay these people by themselves to praise them and term the slightest criticism bad belle or hate. Yet it has been discovered that the highest amount of hatred exhibited on the social media is by fellow celebrity colleagues who hide under ‘anonymous’ to comment hatred on any post of their ‘frenemies’ on blogs and websites.

Many have already lamented the tragedy of sacrificing a promising and decent acting career for a descent into musical lunacy but those fanning the embers of this disgrace are the Social Media sycophants who are not equipped to tell the truth.

People with one or two followers on Twitter who tweet false praise at celebrities in order to get a retweet or attract followership and the paid mercenaries who advertise bad products and make them to trend are those pushing this beautiful actress to her doom and from being a national embarrassment, she will soon go international.

Charlie Boy’s Opinion On “My Oga At The Top” Saga

Here is what Charlie boy has to say about “My Oga At The Top” Saga

It’s unfortunate, this article is coming in late. This is because I almost ignored the racket “ My Oga at the top” generated. However, because of some salient lessons in the whole joke, I have decided to hit you with this.
Even though, my ways may be very different from yours, I still believe we must be objective in our analysis, judgment, and conclusion about others. The NSCDC Commandant, Mr. Shem’s experience in the hands of Nigerians and the Channel TV personalities cannot be too different from what many of us face on a daily bases.
Some of us have been arbitrarily judged, smashed, squeezed, criticised, and battered for several years because we have failed to be who they want us to be. Different darts and missiles have been thrown at us because they chose to judge us from the first impression they conceived about us. What insult haven’t we received? They will try to judge you by the few words they hear from your mouth. When you use signs and symbols to communicate national issues, they misconstrued every bit of it as you are either tagged the head of Nigeria Illuminati, or they may even try to put your sexuality to question. However, we still love them, and still fight for them even when they don’t really understand why we are here. Some have not even realized the need to hold on to the reality that confronts them today, instead, they are committed to producing gunpowder for the celebration of individual blunder, and they swiftly push national blunder aside.

Yes, the NSCDC Commandant goofed, he failed to give the correct NSCDC website, he wanted his oga at the top to announce that personally, hence he couldn’t go ahead to announce it, as his oga may end up announcing another one later. At first, it appeared to me as if he didn’t understand the question until he got to the point of providing the URL of the website, and then we all laughed when he was unable to provide the web address as demanded. We all laughed at his little or no IT knowledge, and not really because he is not competent enough to do his job. We all laughed because he had displayed some level of confidence right from the beginning of the interview till the point he was to give the website details.

However, is it enough to have made it a trending topic on twitter and on other social sites for days? I must say that we have all failed by pushing aside the lesson and the message of the controversial interview. If you don’t know, the message is simple; there is a systemic failure. We have all failed our country. We have even failed to channel our heavy online presence towards a more positive direction. We have failed to understand that the entire system has no structure as it stands now. If that is not the case, why were we not intelligent enough to see beyond Mr. Shem’s failure and begin to reflect over leadership failure, using the social media platform? It has always remained this way, where only few of us can speak our minds in a country where mediocrity reigns supreme. We have failed to see how mediocre now flood the civil service , but all we are now looking at ,is just Mr. Shem’s blunder. Why???

Members of staff in several organizations know little or nothing about their organization. They can’t even tell ‘categorically’ like Mr. Shem, whether they have an existing or functional website. How effective are various media units that are scattered across different Ministries in the country? NSCDC should even thank God that it was Mr. Shem who failed, and not their media unit, because such would have been possible. I know that majority of Nigerians that work in the civil service are not up to date with the internet social world, as they believe in doing things the old way. You won’t even blame Mr. Shem for not being able to give the correct web address or not being able to add, because the NSCDC Website, prior to the controversy was almost dormant. How would you expect one to know a website that doesn’t exist or non-functional?

But my pain is simply that we have all failed to tackle the most pressing issues of the day, falling into the trap and deception of the phrase “My oga at the top”. We have been so deceived and then became so careless about our safety, laughing hysterically; with our eyes gazed at “My Oga at the top” until the dreaded Boko Haram found a way to shoot us with their arrows. We laughed until we forgot that we have urgent national issues to address, and the faceless ones hit us hard again in the city of Kano. What a shame!

While we were busy gossiping, creating cartoons, producing T. Shirts, and cooking beats in the studio to ridicule just a single individual, we lost millions of naira at the Murtula Mohammed Airport, Lagos to some armed men who stormed the airport, harassing both Nigerians and foreigners. I heard they had a swell moment at the airport. You can’t just imagine that armed robbers could succeed even in an International Airport. Where is safe then? “Yet, we were busy with My oga at the top”

While we took the joke to another level, the Boko Haram militants also saw our weaknesses and carefree attitude, and they hit us hard, killing well over 60 people in the Kano bomb attack. They beat all security apparatus in place in the volatile city, because, we refused to watch our back as we were laughing at “ My Oga at the top”

In our usual carelessness, when some people were demanding for amnesty for some faceless people, we kept mummed, because we were only interested in “Oga at the top.” We refused to ask questions on why some people should be advocating for this group.

As good, committed, and patriotic citizens, couldn’t we have embarked on a campaign against violence using the social media platform for that purpose? How many of us are willing to laugh at some of the ogas in the North who have sold the future of our children in the name of leadership tussle? How many of us have been able to tell the Northern leaders that they have failed their people for giving some terrorists the supports they really do not deserve? Yet, we still talk about “My Oga at the top”

These are no time for such jokes as we have better and serious issues to address as Nigerian youth and children. Enough of this “My oga at the top” Stop the rubbish now! Let’s ask them some questions on why we must continue to bury our ourselves

Skirt Pregnancy For Kim Kardashian [PHOTOS]

Kim Kardashian is more than half way through her pregnancy and packing on the baby weight, but that is not stopping her from strutting in style. It seems as if Kim is playing around with her style more than ever; and whether it looks good or you like it or not, one thing has definitely remained… Kim’s loyalty to her favorite fitted shirt, pencil skirt, pointed-toe pumps look! This past week, Kim was seen out and about in this look multiple times; first while having dinner with BFF, Lala Anthony, then while out at her attorney’s office, and again today at her family’s estate.
While the overall mix of pieces may be redundant, this is a safe reserved look for the mom-to-be. We should probably all be happy and enjoy this because lord knows, we all have seen what could happen when she…and Kanye… start experimenting with her wardrobe!

Why We Chose To Wed In Dubai – 2face/Annie Idibia

idea of Dubai came up. I don’t know about crowd control. We just want to have the best of the moment and make sure things go rightly. There is nothing more to it. It does not have to do with controlling the people or anything. The fact is that you can’t run away from the people. Anywhere you go, you will meet people and these people have come to celebrate with us. Let’s just say that we love Dubai and we also discovered that it was a perfect venue for us. ” 2face Idibia told Glitz in a recent interview.

Pope Francis Tells Benedict: ‘We’re Brothers’

Pope Francis meets Pope emeritus Benedict XVI in Castel Gandolfo Saturday

Pope Francis travelled Saturday to this hill town south of Rome to have lunch with his “brother” and predecessor Benedict XVI, a historic and potentially problematic melding of the papacies that has never before confronted the Catholic Church.

The two men dressed in white embraced warmly on the helipad in the gardens of Castel Gandolfo, where Benedict has been living since he stepped down Feb. 28 and became the first pope to resign in 600 years, reports The Associated Press.

In a series of gestures that ensued, Benedict made clear that he considered Francis to be pope while Francis made clear he considered his predecessor to be very much a revered brother and equal. They clasped hands repeatedly, showing one another the deference owed a pope in ways that surely turned Vatican protocol upside down.

Travelling from the helipad to the palazzo, Francis sat on the right-hand side of the car, the traditional place of the pope, while Benedict sat on the left. When they entered the chapel inside the palazzo to pray, Benedict tried to direct Francis to the papal kneeler at the front of the chapel, but Francis refused.

“No, we are brothers,” Francis told Benedict, according to the Vatican spokesman the Rev. Federico Lombardi. He said Francis wanted to pray together with Benedict, so the two used a different kneeler in the pews and prayed side-by-side.

Francis also brought a gift to Benedict, an icon of the Madonna, and told him that it’s known as the “Madonna of Humility.”

“I thought of you,” Francis told Benedict. “You gave us so many signs of humility and gentleness in your pontificate.” Benedict replied: “Grazie, grazie.”

Benedict wore the simple white cassock of the papacy, with a quilted white jacket over it to guard against the chill, but minus the sash and cape worn by Francis. Walking with a cane, he looked frail compared to the robust 76-year-old Argentine.

Outside the villa, the main piazza of Castel Gandolfo was packed with well-wishers bearing photos of both popes and chanting “Francesco! Francesco!” But the Vatican made clear they probably wouldn’t see anything.

The Vatican downplayed the remarkable reunion in keeping with Benedict’s desire to remain “hidden from the world” and not interfere with his successor’s papacy. There was no live coverage by Vatican television, and only a short video and still photos were released after the fact.

The Vatican spokesman said the two spoke privately for 40-45 minutes, followed by lunch with the two papal secretaries, but no details were released.

All of which led to enormous speculation about what these two popes might have said to one another after making history together: Benedict’s surprise resignation paved the way for the first pope from Latin America, the first Jesuit, and the first to call himself Francis after the 13th century friar who devoted himself to the poor, nature and working for peace.

That the former Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio was second only to Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger in the 2005 conclave that elected Ratzinger pope has only added to the popular imagination about how these two popes of such different style, background and priorities might get along.

Perhaps over their primo, or pasta course during Saturday’s lunch, they discussed the big issues facing the church: the rise of secularism in the world, the drop in priestly vocations in Europe, the competition that the Catholic Church faces in Latin America and Africa from evangelical Pentecostal movements.

During their secondo, or second course of meat or fish, they might have gone over more pressing issues about Francis’ new job: Benedict left a host of unfinished business on Francis’ plate, including the outcome of a top-secret investigation into the leaks of papal documents last year that exposed corruption and mismanagement in the Vatican administration. Francis might have wanted to sound Benedict out on his ideas for management changes in the Holy See administration, a priority given the complete dysfunctional government he has inherited.

Over coffee, they might have discussed future of Monsignor Georg Gaenswein, Benedict’s trusted aide who has had the difficult task of escorting his old pope into retirement and then returning to the Vatican to serve his successor in the initial rites of the office.

Gaenswein, who wept as he and Benedict made their final goodbyes to staff in the papal apartment on Feb. 28, has appeared visibly upset and withdrawn at times as he has been by Francis’ side. The Vatican has said Francis’ primary secretary will be Monsignor Alfred Xuereb, who had been the No. 2 secretary under Benedict.

Both Xuereb and Gaenswein were present for lunch. Start to finish, the meeting lasted about 2 ½ hours, with Benedict escorting Francis back to the helipad for the ride back to the Vatican.

Benedict’s resignation — and his choices about his future — have raised the not-insignificant question of how the Catholic Church will deal with the novel situation of having one reigning and one retired pope living side-by-side, each of them called “pope,” each of them wearing papal white and even sharing the same aide in Gaenswein.

Before Benedict announced his decision to be known as “emeritus pope,” one of the Vatican’s leading canon lawyers, the Jesuit Rev. Gianfranco Ghirlanda, penned an article suggesting that such a title would be inappropriate for Benedict since in renouncing the papacy he had “lost all the power of primacy” conferred on him by his election as pope.

The alternate title — which Vatican officials had suggested would be likely be chosen — was that of “emeritus bishop of Rome,” since bishops routinely retire and are known as “emeritus bishops.”

But Benedict opted instead for “emeritus pope,” ”Your Holiness” and also chose to keep wearing the white cassock of the papacy, leading to questions about both his own influence on the future pontiff and whether Catholics more favourable to his traditional style might try to undermine his successor’s authority and agenda by keeping their allegiance to the old pope.

Abuja Airport To Experience Power Outage Today Sun, 10/03/2013 – 5:50am | NKEM OSUAGWU

Power supply at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, will be interrupted today between 10 a.m. and 10.30 p.m.

According to Yakubu Dati, spokesman for FAAN “The temporary disconnection of power supply is to enable our engineers switch over to a new and improved source of power supply to the airport, as part of the power improvement project for the airport.

It is expected that the new source of power supply will drastically reduce the incidents of power outage and thereby enhance service delivery at the airport.

“The power improvement project, which is taking place simultaneously in major airports across the country, is designed by the Federal Government to improve electric power supply at all airports, as part of the Transformation Agenda in the aviation industry.”

It will be recalled that last Tuesday the power outage at Lagos Airport resulted in the delay of outbound traffic for about 30 minutes.

Chris Brown Wanted For Smoking Weed On Stage In Ghana

Chris Brown seems to have quite the issue with authority, whether it be here in the states, or off somewhere else Chris is going to do what he wants when he wants and nothing anybody says is really going to make a difference. Recently footage of the R&B singer was shown from a performance of his in Ghana where Brown not only smoked a blunt on stage but it was a planned part of the show including theatrics, as if he were promoting breaking the laws. Some music fans as well as some of Ghana’s public officials are up in arms against it. It doesn’t surprise me one bit though I must say, it didn’t surprise me when I found out he didn’t do that community service, honestly I don’t think we’ve seen the worst of Breezy yet. I just hope we haven’t seen the best of him yet either. Hit the jump for the video.

This is wickdness!!! Kindergarten Teacher Lets Class Taste Her Blood.

There are new experimental ways to teach your children, but the following should be banned because it’s nasty. A teacher in Norway was coming back from the doctor when she asked the nurse to take a vial of her blood to go. When she got to her class, she poured it on a plate for the children to see.
The children asked if she could touch it and she let them. Then they asked how they were supposed to take it off and she put her finger in her mouth and the children followed suit. The teacher has apologised but obviously already been fired. This teacher has terrible judgement! The blood has been sent to be tested for AIDS and Hepatitis B.

New Pope to emerge on Tuesday

The Vatican made the announcement on Friday.
The process to elect a new Pope that would succeed Benedict XV1, who resigned last month after nearly eight years in office, has commenced, a statement from Rome said on Friday.
After a meeting of 115 Roman Catholic cardinals at the Vatican, Tuesday next week, March 12, was announced as the date when the new Pope would emerge.
So far, no candidate stands out as a clear successor to the outgone 85-year-old pontiff, who blamed his failing health for his inability to continue in office. He becomes the first to resign in about 600 years.
Under the rules of the secret ballot or conclave, cardinals would vote until one achieves a two-thirds majority to emerge.
Agency sources quoted Vatican press office as saying that the vote would be preceded by a mass on Tuesday morning, with the first ballot due in the afternoon.
Vatican staff have been preparing the Sistine Chapel, where the conclave is expected to take place, installing the two stoves that would produce white smoke from burnt ballot papers when a new pope is elected.
The last election in 2005 took three days, and correspondents say the number of meetings this time is being seen as a reflection of the many challenges facing the Church.
There are also tensions between traditionalists and reformers over issues, including priestly celibacy, gay rights and the role of women.

She was too good to be true – Derenle’s emotional tribute to Goldie

She was too good to be true – Derenle’s emotional tribute to Goldie

By Kaymi on February 25, 2013

Ever since his BFF, Goldie Harvey died on Valentine’s day, Denrele Edun has refused to utter a word or speak about her death – she died in his arms, so you can imagine how heartbroken he would be. He has finally released his tribute to her – it’s a bit long and quite emotional…so here it goes:

Denrele’s tribute:

My super star friend sways away and I stand watching till she fades on the horizon and someone at my side says “she’s gone”…Gone where?

Gone from my sight, that is all. She is just as gorgeous now as when last I saw her.

Her slightly disappearing figure and total loss from my sight is in me, not in her.

And just at that moment, when someone at my side says she’s gone, there are others who are watching her coming over their horizon and other voices take up a glad shout – There she comes! That is what dying id – An horizon and just the limit of our sight.

My lifeline, my lexicon, Therapist and support system…we have known lots of pleasure, at times endured ppai, we have lived in the sunshine and walked in the rain. I had acute malaria (was shaking terribly) but performed “skibobo” with you at the Industry Night and Loud&Proud show, I sprained my ankle but still shot your three videos in a row in S/A.

I left my family house and moved in with you and your family right after all the Big Brother Africa madness, I did all the damage control….

I fought every organizer simply cos I wanted you on the bill with me and split my show earnings with you, I dragged you to the American Embassy even if it meant I had to get up at 4am. I endured negative criticism because shallow minds couldn’t comprehend your brand essence – I started wearing block heels (you got me the most fabulous pair of Jeffrey Campbells) and I damned the consequences. I recorded the reality show “Tru Friendship” with you because you went on and on about it and I wanted to please you.

I have been your fierce-alter ego in all your videos, I have fought your fights, endured countless eccentric P.As with you…I can go on and on and this is how you leave me? You chose an eternal sleep over a fabulous life with me? Lest I forget, I ate the entire box of birthday chocolates Bola sent to you!

Phew, I can’t type anymore, I’m playing “Good To Me” (always disturbed you to release that song) and my notepad is a misty mass of my never ending tears. So sad when people who give you the best memories, become a memory!

The Goldie I knew, despite your success and worldwide recognition, still wondered, “Am I good enough?” “Am I pretty enough?” “Will they like me?” It was this burden that made you great…And that made you stumble in the end.

Goldie if you can hear me now, you weren’t good just good enough – You were abso-frigging-lutely GREAT! You sang the whole damn song without a band- you made the picture of a showbiz star look so perfect!

Your parting has left a void, but I will fit it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss and oh yes, these things I too will miss. Even though we are separated and for a time apart, I am not alone cos you’re forever in my heart. I will move mountains to continue your legacy, I will crash ceilings to spread your good works, I will break barriers to sell your “market” but above all, I will cherish the awesome times we spent together…You will forever be my source of infinity!

We wore the same shoe size and had the same body proportions. You made me start strutting lashes and recall I wore that black dress of yours you never got to wear? No masterpiece can ever match your face! To everyone reading this piece, let my dear friend rest in peace! Speak no evil about her, she was too good to be true!

I can hear you say to me…Mbirikoko, do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there, I do not sleep, Do not stand at my grave and cry…I am not there, I did not die!

Pope quit over corruption, gay sex scandals

Pope Benedict XVI resigned after an internal investigation informed him about a web of blackmail, corruption and gay sex in the Vatican, Italian media reports say.

A team of three cardinals were asked by Benedict to verify allegations of financial impropriety, cronyism and corruption exposed in the so-called VatiLeaks affair.

In December, they handed the pontiff a large portfolio of papers which was “an exact map of the mischief and the bad fish” inside the Holy See, La Repubblica said.

“It was on that day, with those papers on his desk, that Benedict XVI took the decision he had mulled over for so long,” said the centre-left newspaper.

It said its article was the first of a series, Daily Telegraph reports.

Panorama, a conservative weekly, did not speculate about the motives behind Benedict’s resignation, but its story about the contents of the confidential report was broadly similar.

Vatican spokesman, Father Federico Lombardi refused to “run after fantasies and opinions” and warned reporters: “Don’t expect comments or rebuttals of what is being said on this issue.”

Lombardi said that the three cardinals had submitted their report privately to Pope Benedict, and it would be passed on to his successor, reported.

The three prelates who investigated the “Vatileaks” scandal and prepared a thorough report – Cardinals Julian Herranz, Jozef Tomko, and Salvatore De Giorgi – will not be giving interviews or divulging details regarding the contents of the report, he said.

Cardinal Herranz, who chaired the commission, confirmed, “The Pope is the only person we have reported to on this question.”

La Repubblica claimed that in a lengthy report on the leaks, the cardinals had alerted the Pontiff to the existence of factions within the Roman Curia, including a powerful faction “united by sexual orientation.”

Some members of that bloc, the cardinals reportedly said, may be vulnerable to “external influence” because of their activities. The Italian newspaper said that the report shocked Pope Benedict and contributed to his decision to resign.

Only an ‘animal’ will attack a human being with acid –Victim

On December 26, 2010, oblivious of the grave danger that lay in wait for her that afternoon, Basirat Raimi, a 400-level student of Business Administration at the Lagos State University at the time, was returning home from school when she heard someone call her name.

She turned her face backward and in that instant, she recognised the voice as that of her estranged boyfriend, Yusuf Salau, with whom she had a child.

Salau allegedly threw a cup of acid in the face of the woman he once loved dearly.

The chemical destroyed much of Raimi’s face. She lost one of her eyes and had to undergo many surgeries to save the other.

She survived. But like many victims of this kind of vicious attack, Raimi lives with the fear she would never be normal again.

Her father was a plank dealer, whose business was not doing very well.  But he had to sell everything in his shop and divert the proceeds to the care of his daughter.

Attacks such as this always keep members of the public wondering what could be an appropriate punishment for those who carry them out.

One part of Raimi’s face is completely disfigured and like other survivors of acid attacks, she has to live with excruciating pain for a long time, not to mention the sky-

high debt incurred through medical bills.

Findings by Saturday PUNCH revealed that most of the victims of acid attacks are women.

Executive Director of Project Alert on Violence Against Women, Dr. Josephine Effa-Chukwuma, said her group’s research once showed that up to about 90 per cent of victims were women.

SETRACO Kidnap Crisis: British Military Planes Arrive Nigeria By Fidelis Onoja on February 23, 2013

Five British military planes have arrived at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja, suggesting that an operation to rescue the seven expatriate workers of SETRACO Construction Company who were abducted over the weekend in Jama’are Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

The foreign workers, who included five Lebanese, a Briton and an Italian, were abducted last Saturday by unknown gunmen in Bauchi.

The bombers, which were parked at the international wing of the airport, might be on their way to prepare ground for the eventual rescue of the hostages.

The jet bombers were said to have arrived in the early hours of yesterday while their colours comprised three grey and two army green. The army green jets were marked “Royal Army”.

It was also observed that some foreign soldiers donning brown camouflage unif0rms were sighted entering one of the army jets preparing for departure, as it was further gathered that some of the jets had started leaving the airport for certain locations to assist in the rescue of the kidnapped foreigners.

The four grey-coloured jets departed the Abuja airport at about 5.55pm, leaving only the army-green jet at the airport as at press time.

According to a military source, the entry of the jets was to prevent the recent failed rescue operation in Sokoto where the terrorists killed the foreigners before they could be rescued by the security agencies, including foreign officers.

However, the British High Commissioner, Mr Rob Fitzpatrick, explained the presence of the jets as a “routine military-to-military engagement.”

Two hostages, Chris McManus (Britain) and Franco Lamolinara (Italy), were found dead in Sokoto on March 9, 2012, during a failed joint rescue mission by the British Special Forces and the Nigerian military. A group that claimed ties to al-Qaida claimed responsibility for the kidnapping, which happened in May 2011.

The rescue attempt began in the morning in Sokoto’s Mabera neighbourhood, a sprawling maze of sandy roads and single-storey cement homes on what used to be fertile farmland surrounding the city of 500,000 people. Residents said a seemingly unending barrage of gunfire followed, as did an attack led by a military armoured personnel carrier.

Once inside in the compound, soldiers found the two men had been killed. But details of how and when they died remained unclear

Information from the raid came from individuals arrested by Nigeria’s security agencies before the operation, a senior official in Nigeria said. However, British officials worried the kidnappers would realise “the net was closing” on their location.

The rescue effort ended months of uncertainty about what happened to McManus and Lamolinara. McManus was working for construction company B.Stabilini when he was kidnapped on May 12, 2011, by gunmen who stormed his apartment in the city of Birnin-Kebbi, about 110 miles (180 kilometers) away from Sokoto. Lamolinara was also abducted.

A German colleague managed to escape by scaling a wall, but a Nigerian engineer was shot and wounded.

A video later released showed the kidnappers claiming they belonged to al-Qaida and threatening to kill McManus and Lamolinara if their demands were not met.

Britain’s Foreign Office had said two men were held by terrorists associated with Boko Haram, a radical Islamist sect in Nigeria blamed for more than 300 killings this year alone. A senior British government official said the kidnappers appeared to be from an al-Qaida-linked cell within Boko Haram, but not within the group’s main faction.

Lagos: Owode-Ajegunle Residents Living in Fear

Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, warned the residents of his administration’s resolve to relocate them

Living in slum areas has not been the best experience for the inhabitants who will gladly trade places with those living in urban areas in order to have better social amenities and decent environment. It also becomes a nightmare when they are evicted from the communities without due compensation or alternative accommodation.

The desire to build a mega city or enforce urban renewal programme for major cities in Nigeria has led to the eviction of majority of people living in slum areas in Nigeria regardless of the fact that the people have lived their whole lives without access to good roads, clean water, sanitation, adequate healthcare and education. However, to add more pain to their situation, in most cases, they do not receive notice prior to the eviction, no compensation is granted and no accommodation is provided.

Last year, after a storm that flooded parts of Owode-Ajegunle, a sprawling water catchment area of the Lagos Lagoon and the Ajuwon River, Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, warned the residents of his administration’s resolve to relocate them if they failed to individually work out alternatives for themselves.

This plan by the government has caused a measure of disquiet in the communities along that stretch of the Lagos-Ikorodu Road. This is understandably so, since most of the residents have nowhere else to call home. They were born there and it is where they raise their families.
Now, they sleep with one of their eyes open as the government’s bulldozers could pull up in the area as they fear that Fashola’s seeming failure to carry out his threat might after all be a delay tactic.

As students of history, the Owode-Ajegunle people remember on a daily basis since the government’s threat that in April 2005, houses, churches and clinics were demolished in the community of Makoko, leaving about 3,000 people homeless. Between May and July 2008, similar forced evictions took place on almost weekly basis in the state.

They are also beginning to imagine the magnitude of difficult situation that awaits them as in the case of thousands of people living in slum, like them that were rendered homeless in Abuja In 2003, while in Rivers State, 19,000 people were evicted from their homes in Njemanze informal Waterfront Settlement in Port Harcourt, in August 2009.

The security implications attached to eviction of people living in slum are enormous. These become more unbearable when there is no provision of alternative accommodation. They include, but not limited to the safety of life and property of both residents of the slum areas and their catchment communities. Given the antecedents of government’s actions on slum areas, the apprehension of the Owode-Ajegunle residents is not out of place. Whatever may be their fate might turn out the burden of the larger society.

For instance, anytime people are removed from their environment, the family becomes scattered because no single family can squat the totality of another family. This exposes them to all forms of dangers and criminalities. The young girls among them may fall into wrong hands and get raped or even killed. The youths may join armed robbery gangs to make both ends meet. The future of the children becomes bleak as they were sent away from where they receive formal education and the parents may not be buoyant enough to send them to schools in urban areas neither will they afford to pay house rents in urban areas. If not properly managed, a full-blown security challenge envelops the society as we have experience in the past. It could lead to an uprising as a result of a possible resistance from the inhabitants.

We have seen some displaced persons engage in a demonstration that attracted the security forces as it happened on October 12, 2009 where at least 12 people were shot and seriously injured in Bundu Waterfronts, Rivers State, when armed security forces opened fire on a crowd peacefully protesting a proposed demolition of their homes.

Lamenting her experience when her house was demolished, one of the evictees of Njemanze Informal Waterfront Settlement in Port Harcourt said: “We suffered a lot, when the bulldozer came, everything was lost, food, utensils, television, fridge, a lot of things, my clothes, my children’s clothes, their books and birth certificates. There was nothing we could do; we slept that night at the compound opposite Njemanze. I slept outside with my husband and children and rain was falling.”

Why can’t the Fashola administration provide the necessary amenities needed in these areas while the inhabitants are still there, rather than evict them and build mansions and plazas that will benefit only the rich; neglecting the low income earners who had kept the area going without compensation.

Access Bank dragged to court for withholding customer’s money

The customer accused the Nigerian bank of improper action.
Emmanuel Effiong, a civil servant, on Thursday sued Access Bank Plc before the Investments and Securities Tribunal, Abuja, for allegedly detaining his N761,688.00.
Also joined in the suit is Security and Exchange Commission.
His counsel, A.G. Wilfred, told the tribunal that the amount was improperly and illegally held by the bank.
He said that till date, 25 per cent, being the interest on the said sum from 2008, was not paid to him.
Mr. Effiong said the bank sometimes between July 23 and August 29, 2007, offered its shares to the public for subscription at 14.90 kobo per share.
He said he paid for 67,200 ordinary shares of the bank worth N1 million, but was allotted only 16,080 units.
The appellant, who said the payment was duly acknowledged by Access Bank on a deposit slip issued to him, said he was surprised to receive a share certificate indicating only a fraction of what he paid for.
Mr. Effiong said several letters demanding his balance of N761,688.00, however, proved abortive.
The Presiding Chairman, Sanda Yelwa, adjourned the case to March 14 for hearing.

Pulmonary Embolism: Learn About What Killed Goldie And How To Avoid It

Its a sad thing we just lost a star and forever will she remain in our hearts. She’s dead but we deserve to know the cause of her death and how to avoid it. This post is to educate everyone on pulmonary embolism which is believed to be the cause of Goldie’s death and how to avoid it.

A Pulmonary Embolism (PE) is a blood clot in the lung. The clot usually forms in smaller vessels in the leg, pelvis, arms, or heart, but occasionally the clot can be large. If the pulmonary embolism is large, it may be capable of such a large mismatch, the patient cannot get enough oxygen into the blood and can be become acutely short of breath which may lead to death.

Several risk factors can make a person more likely to develop a blood clot that can eventually break loose and travel to the lung which includes
1) Immobilization (which reduces flow),
2) Damaged vessel wall (which forms a location for clot to start)
3) Hypercoagulable state (which makes it easier for blood to clot)
4) Trauma and Injury to leg or arm
5) Heart disease
6) Burns
7) Previous history of blood clot in the legs (Deep Vein Thrombosis) or pulmonary embolism.
8) Cancer.
9) Pregnancy, estrogen therapy and oral contraceptives.
10) Certain protein and enzyme deficiencies.

Not all pulmonary embolism exhibit the same symptoms but the common ones are; Chest pain, shortness of breath, anxiety, cough, sweating and passing out

Some people with pulmonary embolism are critically ill. They have severe shortness of breath, low blood pressure, and low oxygen concentrations.
Patients with chest pain will be placed on a heart monitor, and usually an IV will be inserted, labs drawn and an electrocardiogram (EKG, ECG) ordered.
The most frequently used treatment for pulmonary embolism include;
1) Oxygen.
2) Blood thinning medications (Anti-coagulants like Heparin, warfarin and enoxaparin)
3) “Clot buster” medications (also called thrombolytics) are given to those who are critically ill.
4) In some life-threatening cases, the patient is taken to a radiologic surgery by an interventional radiologist.

A frequent cause of pulmonary embolism is a long car or airplane trips when the blood pools in the legs and forms a blood clot that then breaks loose and travels to the lung.

Stop at least every 2 hours on a car trip and stretch the legs and walk.
On long airplane flights, get up and walk the aisle at least once an hour to prevent blood clot formation.
After surgery, compression units are placed on the legs that function like the leg muscles, to help clot formation. Anitclotting medications are also utilized.

May Goldie Harvey’s soul Rest in peace.

Damn! Rob Kardashian Tells Kim He Hopes Her Sex Tape Haunts Her Forever!

Rob Kardashian definitely has youngest child syndrome. You know, the one where all of your older brothers/sisters (in this case, just sisters) have success and are doing their own thing, but you can’t find your way. With a handful of failed business ideas and failed relationships under his belt, Rob wasn’t feeling too great a few months back when yet another relationship bit the dust: his with Rita Ora. It got pretty messy, in fact, with Rob taking to Twitter to blast the UK songstress, saying she’d slept with over 20 other men during their time together. Yikes! Of course, the behind-the-scenes stuff was captured on camera for this season of Kim & Kourtney Take Miami, and apparently Kim tried to stop her baby bro from totally playing himself on Twitter… but he didn’t want to hear it. During last night’s episode, Kim called Rob up to tell him to stop airing his dirty laundry out, telling him, “Don’t post anything else. Everyone has problems.” But yet, Rob didn’t “want people to think I’m being a bitch,” so the siblings couldn’t see eye-to-eye. He was also mad because apparently Kanye didn’t want to do a song with one of his friends. After hanging up with each other, he sent Kim a NASTY email, of which Kim then read to her mom. Find out the contents of the email below.

Marisa Mendez
In the email, Rob told him, “I hope your sex tape haunts you for the rest of your life and I’m going to publicly bash you and Kanye.”
What is wrong with him?! Luckily he came to his senses a little later, and called to apologise.
“I wanted to apologise. Obviously the things I said to you in the text message, I was just being mean.” Of course Kimmy Cakes accepted. What an interesting dynamic! LOL!

Arkansas Senate passes bill to ban abortions after 20 weeks

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas (Reuters) – The Republican-controlled Arkansas state Senate approved a measure on Monday to ban abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy except in the case of rape, incest or to save the mother’s life.

The Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act passed the Senate, 25-7, with amendments that allowed for the exemptions in the case of rape or incest. An earlier version of the bill that passed the Republican-controlled House allowed exemptions only for pregnancies that threatened the mother’s life.

The bill, which shortens the existing limit of 25 weeks, now returns to the House for consideration of the Senate amendment.

Democratic Governor Mike Beebe has not said whether he would sign the bill into law.

Seven U.S. states have laws that restrict or ban abortion after the 20-week mark and similar laws approved in Arizona and Georgia are facing legal challenges.

Late-term abortions remain relatively rare. Most of the recent state laws banning most abortions after 20 weeks are based on hotly debated medical research suggesting a fetus feels pain starting at 20 weeks of gestation.

SMH! Guess Which Kardashian Was Fired From Her Job?

Word around town is that Khloe Kardashian just got fired from her X-Factor hosting job! First Lamar gets the boot from the Lakers to the Mavs (then to the Clippers). Now, Khloe’s losing her job too! After just ONE season sources claim Khloe Kardashian has been fired as a host, due to disappointing reception. ‘They are asking Mario [Lopez] to come back, but not Khloe,’ an insider confirmed to the New York Post. A spokesperson for the X Factor refused to confirm the report, instead stating, ‘The producers have not yet made the talent decisions for this year.’ Despite her fame on Keeping Up With The Kardashians, Khloe came to the X Factor with no hosting experience. She seemed very nervous on air, and since it was live – her comments could not be edited. And her wardrobe choices didn’t exactly help her out either, a few of the nights she had malfunctions with her nipples apparent through her see-through top. Poor Klo, bet if it was “inexperienced” Kim K, they would’ve let her keep the job! …I’m sure you’d agree.

FG’s report on Bellview crash doctored –Airline

Civil Aviation Authority for allowing a defective plane to fly and incompetent pilots to operate the ill-fated flight that led to the death of 117 people in Lisa Village, Ogun State on October 22, 2005.

However, Bellview said the report released by AIB on Saturday was different from the one it submitted about four years ago to the airline and the country of design of the aircraft.

A statement by the Head, Corporate Communications, Bellview, Mr. Terver-Uzer Luke, said the company disagreed with the content of the report.

The statement read in part, “We have just read the Accident Investigation Bureau report reference 2/2009 (BLV 2005/10/22F) uploaded on their website on February 15, 2013, and the following represent our position. We remain absolutely committed to finding the true cause of this tragic accident through open and transparent process as we have nothing to hide. We however, do not agree with the findings and conclusions of AIB.

“AIB allowed internal politics within it to distort and bias its interpretation of the material facts of the accident. AIB circulated a draft final report reference 2/2009 (BLV 2005/10/22) to the relevant authorities, including the state of design and ourselves in 2009. This report has now been doctored four years after without inviting us to comment on the fundamental alteration to the original report in accordance with ICAO Annex 13.”

Luke said the “doctored report is geared to make Bellview the scapegoat with the ulterior motive of abandoning further investigation to find the true cause of the accident.”

According to the Bellview spokesman, AIB stated in its report that the true cause of the sad accident was still unknown but went ahead to “make speculative allusions.”

The statement added, “Accident report should be factual and not speculative about the cause of the accident. The captain of the flight had 1053.54 hours experience on type in addition with over 10,000 hours and not the 153.45 hours as erroneously stated on page 8 of the AIB report.

“The captain was trained in the United States under US FAA approved training programme and facility. The captain had a valid first class medical with no restriction despite the allusion made by AIB.

“The First Officer had sufficient experience in line with regulatory requirement. We are surprised that AIB distorted these facts by intentionally understating the crew total hours on type to reach a false conclusion about the crew experience. Allusion to training records is pure speculative.”

It added, “The crew members were not over worked as abundance of evidence showed that the crew average duty time over the last six months is less than 90 hours a month and on the day of the accident, both crew have been on duty for less than four hours.”
